The film is a 2012 documentary where a young man tested the kindness of humanity by enlisting the help of strangers to give him a place to stay while he traveled. Using the popular platform Craigslist, Joseph Garner lived without money and refrained from getting assistance from people he already knew. The concept of ‘couch surfing’ was one that he explored as well as the ‘freeconomy,’ which are budget traveler favorites to this day.
Based on a book by the same name by Cheryl Strayed, a young woman decides to hike the Pacific Crest Trail by herself. The one-hundred-mile solo hike is full of uncertainty.
