Winter is in full tow. If you haven’t pulled out your parkas or skis, it is time to plan a trip to a snowy destination. If the thought of traveling to step foot on snowy ground gives you chills, consider a warmer destination. Below is a list of places you may want to add to your list of potential places to visit in February.

Vail, Colorado

Vail, ColoradoWe can’t avoid adding this to the list. Home of the Vail Ski Resort, Vail is located in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and offers generous snowfall, a variety of terrain and mountain views with an inviting European-inspired town that features heated cobblestone streets! From February 15-18 is Vail Legacy Days, a four-day celebration of the history of the town. Check out Vail Village when you come down from the ski slopes and enjoy casual to upscale dining spots as well as hundreds of boutiques and shops.

Verona, Italy

Verona, ItalyIf Italy has been on your traveler’s bucket list, February is a fantastic time to visit the great city. Verona is a gorgeous medieval city, making it a fantastic place to celebrate the Valentine’s Day holiday in a romantic locale, where Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet met and professed their ill-fated love. Grab a cocktail or glass of prosecco at a café on the Piazza Bra. Check out beautifully preserved baroque buildings at the Piazza dell Erbe. Don’t miss the Torre del Gardello clock tower. Up for a hike? You can grab a spectacular view of the river and the city by hiking or taking the funicular to the Piazzale Castel San Pietro.

Quebec, Canada

Quebec, CanadaIf you want a truly winter destination, Quebec is beautiful in February. It is also quite cold so dress in layers and be sure to bring mittens! Winter Carnival takes place from February 8-17, offering loads of fun including night parades, ice canal races, snow sculptures, pyrotechnics and more. Old Quebec is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its charming streets, fortified walls and European-esque feel and can be visited by horse-drawn carriage. Don’t miss the Hotel de Glace – whether you plan to stay a night or just tour the building. The hotel is created with 500 tons of ice and 30,000 tons of snow and is the only ice hotel in North America. It is open from February through March. Some of the rooms feature hot tubs, themed décor and fireplaces! Guests stay warm with layers of clothing and insulated sleeping bags!

The Exumas, Bahamas

Swimming pigs of The BahamasThe Exumas are part of the Bahamas, about 300 air miles from Miami. These cays are known for their exclusive resorts, turquoise waters, exciting snorkeling and driving and white sand beaches. The islands are sparsely populated, making this destination a great place to truly get away in the winter months. Many tourists enjoy visiting the swimming pigs on Big Major Cay, which swim out to boats when tourists arrive. It is a mystery how they got there but everyone enjoys them nonetheless. When visiting the Exumas, you can expect to see lots of colorful fish, barracuda, spiny lobsters and spotted eagle rays. On land you will experience many seabirds, sea turtles, iguanas and more. From guest houses and beachfront hotels to exclusive resorts, lodging options are widely available. If you want a truly secluded getaway, you can grab a spot on the Fow Cay Resort’s Private Island near Pig Beach.
